Donald D Clark

December 14, 1935 — April 24, 2019

Donald Denney Clark “Don”, 83, of Orange Park, died peacefully on Wednesday, April 24, 2019.

Don was the son of Darwin and Elsie Clark.  He was born on December 14, 1935 in Monticello, Kentucky and joined the United States Navy at age 18 in 1954 where he proudly served his country for 27 years retiring as Chief Warrant Officer. He met and married his bride, Wanda, of 62 years on January 19, 1957.

After his education and military career, he was employed for ten years at Northrup Grumman in St. Augustine, Florida.   Don was an accomplished man who valued education by achieving a Master of Arts Degree from Central Michigan University.  After retiring, Don continued to serve his community as a Master Gardener and was one of the founders of a gardening project at Bannerman Learning Center over 15 years ago.  His outstanding achievements were recognized by the Clay County School District when selected as Senior Volunteer of the Year, State winner (region 2), in 2017.

Don was an avid fisherman for many years. He enjoyed woodworking and building special gifts for his family and friends.  He was an enthusiastic sports fan for most of his life! His passion for football was evident in being a proud Jaguars season ticket holder for 18 years.  He was Kentucky born and bred and therein lied his love for the Kentucky Wildcats basketball.

He is survived by his wife, Wanda, son, Richard Clark (Bonnie), twin daughters, Tamara Treadway (Gregg) and Toni Padgett (Craige), six grandsons and two great granddaughters.  He is also survived by his brother, Tom Clark and sister, Sandra Yebba.  Don is predeceased by his parents.
