Helen Ledbetter

August 12, 1932 — September 17, 2018

Helen Ledbetter, 86, of Fleming Island, FL went home to be with the Lord on September 17, 2018.  She was born on August 12, 1932 to parents Grady and Florence Ward and grew up in a large, loving family in Montgomery, Alabama.  Helen was preceded in death many years prior by her husband, Billy Ledbetter, Sr. She is survived by her brother, Thomas Ward, her sister, Jeanette Orr; her son, Bill Ledbetter, Jr. and his wife (Jan); daughter, Lynne Wilder and her husband (Randy); her wonderful grandchildren, Melanie and Michael; and many loving friends.

Helen always had a warm smile, a kind heart, and an encouraging word for others.  She so loved her family, friends, and church!  In her early years in Alabama she enjoyed life as a homemaker while raising two children with her husband.   After his death, and in her later years as her health began to decline, she moved to Florida to be near her daughter and family.  Her last year was especially happy as her son and his wife also moved to Florida to be near her.  In her free time, she enjoyed reading her Bible, solving word-finds, and working crossword puzzles.  She said it all kept her spirit refreshed and her mind active!  Helen was a faithful member of Hibernia Baptist Church and looked forward to her ladies’ Bible Study Group each week.  She was a strong woman, and she will forever be remembered by her children and grandchildren as an amazing, inspiring figure.

A celebration of her life will be held at 2:00 pm, Sunday, October 7, 2018 at Hibernia Baptist Church, 7100 Highway 17S, Fleming Island, FL with Pastor Scott Yirka officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hibernia Baptist Church - Missions Ministry.
