Joshua Tyler Adams

Joshua Tyler Adams, 28, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away on December 22, 2017, under the care of the Custead Hospice Care Center in Orange Park following a brief illness. 

He was born on March 27, 1989, in Tampa, Florida, to Joe and Sheila (Stephens) Adams. He was a distributor for Mission Foods in Jacksonville, where he grew up and spent his adult life. He attended R.L. Brown Elementary, James Weldon Johnson Middle School, Stanton College Preparatory (three years) and Mandarin High School, graduating in 2007.

He went on to study at Florida State College at Jacksonville and Santa Fe College in Gainesville. In younger years, he was active with the Argyle Church of Christ youth group on Jacksonville's Westside.

Joshua was an avid reader who enjoyed billiards, fishing, cooking, thought-provoking movies and TV shows, and playing computer games. He was formerly a world-class player in Call of Duty who competed in the international video games world series.

Aside from his parents, who live in the Orlando area, he is survived in immediate family by a sister, Jordan Adams, of Orlando; a grandmother, Ernestene Adams, of Tampa; a grandfather, Charles Stephens, of Sandy Hook, Kentucky; an uncle, Jackie Adams, of Tampa; and an aunt, Vicki (Bruce) Haddad, of Louisville, Kentucky.

He is preceeded in death by a grandfather, Emory Adams; a grandmother, Jo Ann Stephens; and an aunt, Regina Stephens, all of Eastern Kentucky.

A memorial service for Joshua will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 13, at the Argyle Church of Christ, 7310 Collins Road, in Jacksonville. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Joshua's name to Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida. Joshua's family is grateful to his Argyle church family for its love and concern and to the doctors, nurses and staff at the trauma center of the Orange Park Medical Center and Custead Hospice Care Center who tended to him with compassion and dignity. And his family especially appreciates the caring and comfort provided Joshua at the end of his life by special friends Rich, Cindy and Adam Ferguson and Lorna Watson.
