Kathryn "Kitty" Waterston

September 17, 1947 — December 24, 2010

Kathryn “Kitty” Waterston, 63, of Penney Farms, passed away December 24, 2010 in Naples, FL. She was born to parents, Eugene and Mary Yuhaz in Madison, Wisconsin. Kitty Waterston would not take no for an answer. When Chad her son was born with Cerebral Palsy she resisted efforts to place him in an institution and developed a program that mainstreamed him in school. He graduated with honors from high school and went on to earn a college degree at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. He is now a missionary in the Philippines. That same drive secured her own degree in library science from University of Wisconsin. She worked in Research and Development with Cabot Corporation in the field of high temperature alloys. Her husband was a clergyman who ran group homes for dependent and neglected children in the Philadelphia area and later served a number of churches. Kitty took her responsibilities as a partner seriously and worked hard in every location. The Waterston's retired to Penney Farms and Kitty volunteered in the Resale shop and two local libraries. She did social work for her retirement board with her husband covering 100 households in Florida for eight years. She and her husband walked every morning for over two miles so her sudden death was a shock to all who knew her. The Waterston's have two other sons, Gregory an ADA in New Jersey and Robert, a Sales Administrator in Philadelphia. A memorial service will be planned for late April. Please sign the family’s online guestbook at www.broadusraines.com. Arrangements are under the care of Broadus-Raines Funeral Home, 501 Spring St., Green Cove Springs, FL (904) 284-4000.
