Charles William DeWitt, 75 of 6347 Little Lake Geneva Rd., Keystone Heights, entered into rest January 25th at the Windsor Manor Rehabilitation Center in Starke, Fl.
He waged a fierce and courageous battle with Diabetes, and Congestive Heart Failure.
He was the husband of Jan Murphy DeWitt. The couple celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary July 17th, 2010. He was born November 11, 1935 in Roscommon, Michigan to the late Charles E. and Mildred Robertson DeWitt.
He proudly served his country for 22 years in the United States Navy, and also retired from the Atlantic Beach, FL Fire Department.
Charles and his wife were avid campers and members of the Keystone Camping Club for several years. He loved following the Jacksonville Jaguars, and was a loyal fan of the Florida Gators.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons; Charles William (Sherri) DeWitt Jr., John Rushing DeWitt; 3 grandchildren; Kyle Macomber, Blake Macomber, and James William DeWitt; two sisters, Audrey Fox, Kathryn DeWitt; one brother, Butch DeWitt, and many other loving family and friends.
He is predeceased by his daughter Debi Macomber. A memorial service with inurnment will be held on Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at 10:30 am at the Jacksonville National Cemetery with military honors.
