Michael Ray Compton

Michael Ray Compton, 58, passed away January 31, 2011. He was born in Orange Park to Ray and Faye Compton and was a lifetime resident of Clay County. Mike was a real outdoorsman and loved hunting and fishing with his family. He really looked forward to his yearly hunting trips to Kentucky with his Dad and brothers and loved socializing with their family members that live up there. Mike was a very unselfish and giving person and will be greatly missed. He was predeceased by his father, Ray Compton, in January of 2007. He is survived by his beloved mother, Faye Compton; brothers, Gary Wayne (Vanesa) Compton and Dennis Lee (Annie) Compton; sisters, Brenda (James) Brooks, Jenny Cothran and Pam Hart; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins and was a great-uncle to five. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 2, 2011 at Broadus-Raines Funeral Home, 501 Spring St. Green Cove Springs, FL 32043. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 3, 2011 at Black Pond Baptist Church, 3644 Old Jennings Rd, Middleburg, FL 32068 with Reverend Charlie Hunt officiating.
