Donald T. Evers, 72, of Orange Park, FL passed away Saturday, April 14, 2007. He was born in Avon Park, FL to parents Louis R. and Ola Mae Evers. Mr. Evers was a retired patrolman from the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office with 36 years of service. He was in the Motorcycle Unit and was an expert marksman. He loved the outdoors and spending time fishing, hunting and camping. Mr. Evers dearly loved his cats and will be missed by his family and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents as well as two brothers, Chandler and Charles Evers. Survivors include his loving wife of 27 years, Cynthia Evers; daughters, Nancy Turner and Gail Murray (RP); brother, Louis R. Evers, Jr. (Janice); grandchildren, Miranda Clifton (Derek), Melissa Turner and Jeffery Murray; great-grandchild, Hadley Clifton; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Tuesday, April 17, 2007 at Broadus-Raines Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, April 18, 2007 in the Chapel of Broadus-Raines Funeral Home with Chaplain James P. Crosby officiating. Interment will follow in Hickory Grove Cemetery with honors by the JSO Honor Guard. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy and Michael McVeigh, Billy Mooneyham, Jim Pierson, G.C. “Cooter” Bachelor and Donald Merritt. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice of NE Florida (268-5200). Please sign the family’s online register book at www.broadusraines.com.
