Carl Sweat

Carl L. Sweat, 76, of Green Cove Springs, passed away peacefully Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at Kindred Hospital North Florida in Green Cove Springs after a lengthy illness, surrounded by his beloved family. He was born on December 26, 1934 in Green Cove Springs to Oral Washington and Annie Ethyl Sweat. Carl was a Veteran of the United States Navy, retiring in 1972 as a Chief Petty Officer. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #107 in Middleburg. He is survived by his loving, devoted wife of 55 years Thelma May Sweat; his son, Kenneth C. Sweat (Lisa), his granddaughters, Madison Ellis and Mallory Sweat; his daughter, Ann Mitchell (Fuzzy), his grandson, Mychael Mitchell; his granddaughter, Chrystal M. Chipoletti (Derek), and his great grandsons, Austin and Hunter Chipoletti. Carl was the fourth of eight siblings, all preceding him in death. He has numerous nieces and nephews who will remember him fondly. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, February, 18, 2011 at Shiloh Baptist Church in Green Cove Springs, with Reverend Charlie Hunt officiating. The family will receive friends in the church Friday for visitation from 1:00 pm until service time. Interment with military honors will follow in Shiloh Cemetery.
