George A. Doxey, Sr.

George A. Doxey, Sr., 87, passed away Saturday, April 14, 2007. He was born to parents George W. and Grace Doxey on April 24, 1919 in Brooklyn, NY and moved to the Penney Farms Retirement Community fifteen years ago from Carol Stream, IL. Of the Baptist faith, he attended Penney Memorial Church. Mr. Doxey graduated from Pratt Institute with a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering and retired from General Electric after twenty one years of service. He belonged to The Gideons International for over forty years and was also a former member of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers. After retirement, Mr. Doxey served as a steward for World Vision for eighteen years. He was preceded in death by two grandsons, Jim and Will. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of sixty four years, Mildred G. Doxey; three sons, George A. Doxey, Jr. (Cynthia) of Clarksville, TN, Paul W. Doxey (Karen) of Wheaton, IL, and Alan D. Doxey (Kathy) of Champagne, CA; and four grandchildren, John, Seth, Kari, and Heather. A memorial service will be held in the chapel of Penney Memorial Church on Saturday, April 21, 2007 at 2:30 pm officiated by Reverend Marshall Southard.
