Jack B. Brooker, 78, of Green Cove Springs, FL, passed away Tuesday, April 24, 2007. He was born on November 12, 1928 in Green Cove Springs to parents, Joseph and Lonie Brooker. Mr. Brooker was a retired Director for the Clay County Parks and Recreation Department, with over 20 years of service. He served his country in the United States Army and spent his time following his retirement running Brooker Trucking. Mr. Brooker loved NASCAR and the Atlanta Braves. He enjoyed watching all sports and was known for his coaching Little League in Green Cove Springs. He was a member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church and will be missed by his family and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Lonie; his wife, Ida Mae Brooker; a son, Keith Brooker; a brother, Ronald Brooker and a sister, Juanita King. Survivors include his son, Craig Brooker (Deborah); step-daughter, Wanda S. Forbes (Joe); brother, Horace E. Brooker; grandchildren, Kendra Giddens (Mark), Elizabeth, Brandi, Brittnee and Breanna Brooker ; Wendy Overton (Bryan) and Chase Dixon (Jessie); great-grandchildren, Maelah and Keith Giddens; Mahalia Hettrick; Will and Wes Overton and Gracie Dixon. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Friday, April 27, 2007 at Broadus-Raines Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, April 28, 2007 at Hickory Grove Baptist Church with Reverends Mike Madaris and Charlie Hunt officiating. Interment will follow in Hickory Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hickory Grove Baptist Church Building Fund, 310 S. Oakridge Ave., Green Cove Springs, FL 32043. Please sign the family’s online register book at www.broadusraines.com.
