James Arthur Morley, 65, of Green Cove Springs, FL, passed away Wednesday, April 20, 2011. He was born on April 28, 1945 in Swampscott, MA to parents Elmer and Pearl Morley. James was of the Catholic faith and has lived in Florida for the past 25 years. He honorably served his country in the United States Army with the 11th Armored Calvary Regiment during the Vietnam War. James was a decorated war veteran who received many medals including the Bronze Star Medal with Combat V. After leaving the military James worked for the Federal Government for many years before retiring. He also worked for Union Correctional Institution for 7 years as a counselor. Mr. Morley earned double masters; one in business and one in behavioral counseling. James enjoyed time spent riding his motorcycle. He will be dearly missed by his loving wife, family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and is survived by his wife, Janet P. Morley; daughters, Michelle Thomason (Mickey) of Gainesville, FL and Amanda Marie Morley of San Francisco; granddaughter, Elizabeth Thomason; step-sons, Bailey Barnes (Catherine) and SSGT Philip Barnes (Kaori); and step-grandsons, Jack, Tristan and Kei. Graveside service and inurnment will be held at 10:00 am Monday, May 2, 2011 at Jacksonville National Cemetery with military honors.
