Hugh Clarke Babcock, Sr.

Hugh Clarke Babcock, Sr., 88 passed away on Friday April 22, 2011. Hugh was a husband, father and an exceptional human being. He leaves behind his wife of 67 years, Lois; four sons; Hugh Jr., Gary, Rodger (Brenda) and Alan; and eight grandchildren; Gennifer, Jason, Shannon, Jessica, Mellissa, Nathan, Sheila and Shelly. As a boy during the depression, Hugh picked strawberries for 25 cents a day. During World War II he served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theater. Although disabled in the late 1940’s, he managed to work and support his family with little or no complaint. With more like him the world would be a far kinder and more gentle place. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 7, 2011 at St. Peter’s Church, 5042 Timuquana Road, in Jacksonville.
