William A. Calley, Sr.

William “Willie” A. Calley, Sr., 62, of Green Cove Springs, FL, passed away Wednesday, May 23, 2007. He was born on October 8, 1944 in Sanford, FL to parents John and Mary Calley. Mr. Calley was a Vietnam War Veteran, serving his country in the United States Army and had worked as a ship fitter at the Jacksonville Ship Yard. He was a member of the Red Neck Yacht Club, loved to fish, build things and work on his boats. Mr. Calley was of the Baptist faith and attended Russell Baptist Church. He will be missed by his cherished family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter, Joni Jane Foster. Survivors include his wife, Rita Sue Calley; children, Joyce Foster (Johnny), Julie Ford (Chris) and Will Calley (Adina Lee Hulion); brothers, Robert, Raymond, Alvin “Boss” and Pete Calley; sisters, Barbara Ann Wollitz and Diane Comalander; grandchildren, Brianna C. Morris, Ethan G. Morris, Elijah Morris and Jonathan Roy Foster. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Friday, May 25, 2007 at Russell Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, May 26, 2007 at Russell Baptist Church, 2299 Sandridge Rd., Green Cove Springs with Rev. Ron Baker and Rev. Tim Hall officiating.
