Ralph Jennings Holder, 87, of St. Augustine, FL passed away Friday, May 25, 2007. He was born to parents John Henry and Minnie Virgie Holder on October 25, 1919 in Ludenburg County, VA and was proud to be a Virginian. Mr. Holder honorably served his country for twenty one years in The United States Navy as a deep sea diver and was a World War II and Korean War veteran. He was awarded The Navy and Marine Corps Medal and The Bronze Star Medal for Valor. He married his beloved wife, Anna Josephine Boyle in 1949. Together, they traveled the world throughout Ralph’s military career and had been residents of the St. Augustine area for the past five years. Mr. Holder became a Freemason when he joined Naval Lodge 100 in Portsmouth, VA and he also enjoyed gardening and woodworking. A devoted husband and father, he will be dearly missed by his family and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Minnie; and his nine brothers and sisters. He is survived by his loving wife, Anna Holder; and three daughters, Margaret “Bonnie” Holder and her husband Robert Finney of St. Augustine, Sandie Holder of Jacksonville, and Versa K’ang and her husband Lyle of Yakima, WA. The family will receive family and friends at their home between 5 and 7 p.m. on Monday, May 28, 2007. A visitation will be held in the chapel of Broadus-Raines Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 29, 2007 from 10:00 until 11:00 am. Memorial services with Military Honors and Masonic Rites will commence at 11:00 am, officiated by Father Guy Noonan.
