Gene W. Wear, Sr.

Gene W. Wear, Sr., 64, of Green Cove Springs, FL passed away Wednesday, May 30, 2007. He was born on July 2, 1942 in Decatur, AL to parents, Willie and Lula Wear. Mr. Wear was an automotive product engineer working on the research and development of ABS. Mr. Wear moved to this area in 1971 from Decatur, AL and had been a volunteer on the Green Cove Springs Fire Department since 1977. He was a member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church and also enjoyed watching First Baptist on TV every Sunday morning. Mr. Wear was a NASCAR fan and a devoted father and will be deeply missed by his cherished family and friends. Mr. Wear was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Carol F. Wear; sons, Gene W. Wear, Jr. (Cathy) of Green Cove Springs, FL and William Michael Wear (Emily) of St. Augustine, FL; daughter, Cynthia Lynn Nordyke of Green Cove Springs, FL; brother, Paul Gilliam of Huntsville, AL and 7 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, June 2, 2007 in the Chapel of Broadus-Raines Funeral Home with Clay County Fire Rescue officiating and providing honors.
