Phyllis Stickles passed away June 18, 2011 at 6:28 am in the Moosehaven Life Care Center at the age of 83. She was born to Clarence and Ruth Haas on April 9, 1928 in Buffalo, New York. Phyllis married Edward Stickles on August 27, 1949 in Clyde, New York. They had two daughters Cindy and Melody, three sons John, Donald and Douglas. She worked at Rich’s Supermarket in the Deli and Meat Departments for seven years. Phyllis enjoyed sewing and being a housewife and mother. Phyllis became affiliated with the Loyal Order of Moose in March, 1971 when her husband, Ed joined Newport News, Virginia Lodge #1119. She joined Newport News, Virginia Chapter #213 and received her Academy of Friendship on April 1, 1973. She was a Life Member. Phyllis and Ed came to Moosehaven on May 7, 2003. Phyllis has resided at Moosehaven for 8 years. Memorial Services were held on June 24, 2011 in the Moosehaven Chapel at 10:00 AM followed by burial in Newport News, Virginia. Services conducted by Rev. Helen Taylor and Officers of Opportunity Chapter. She is survived by her daughters Cindy Overman of Newport News, Virginia and Melody Floyd and sons John Stickles of Smithfield, Virginia, Donald Stickles of Hampton, Virginia and Douglas Stickles of Newport News, Virginia.
