Doris Patten

Doris Patten, age 82, died at the Pavilion for Health Care, Penney Farms, Florida on June 5, 2007, surrounded by her loving family. Doris was born in Lanier County, Georgia on May 25, 1925, the first of 6 children born to Alvin L. and Alice M. Sirmons, who preceded her in death along with her sister, Bernice Elizabeth Sirmons. Doris retired from the Clay County School Board after serving 25 years in various positions at Charles E. Bennett Elementary School. She was a faithful servant to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and to her Church, Hickory Grove Baptist Church. Doris is survived by her husband of 65 years, Joe Patten and their four children, Patsy Rifenbark (Fred), Joe R. Patten, Jr. (Catherine), Penny Hopper (Perry), and Pamela Wilson (Dale). Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, Michelle Mikell, Rick Rivers, Dr. Erin Collins, Andrew Hopper, Natalie Patten, Melanie Nielson, Joe R. Patten III, Allie Jo Wilson, Dr. John Wilson, Andrew Wilson and Lisa Wilson Allen, and 11 great-grandchildren, Samuel, Kierstin, twins Caden and Kaylin, Chloe, Joey, Ella, Molly, twins Dylan and Tyler, and Bo. Doris is also survived by her sisters, Nancy Sirmons and Mary Alice Stanton (Goodwin), and brothers Wallace Sirmons (Wanda) and Douglas Sirmons (Kathy). Family visitation hours will be 6-8 PM on Friday, June 8, 2007 at Broadus-Raines Funeral Home, with funeral services on Saturday, June 9, 2007 at 11:00 AM at Hickory Grove Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Hickory Grove Cemetery.
