Ila Jean Fullerton Wells

Ila Jean Fullerton Wells, 95, resident of Oxford, Ohio, since 2007, died peacefully July 3, 2011, at The Knolls of Oxford. She was born September 12, 1915, in Atkinson, Nebraska. Her childhood was spent in Nebraska; her youth, in Penney Farms, Florida, where her father was an investor in Mr. J.C. Penney's experimental farm community. She lived many years in Daytona Beach, FL, caring for her husband, Jack Lawrence Wells, who was severely disabled by a stroke in 1967. They were long-time members of the Stroke Club and spent many summers at Easter Seals Camp Challenge in Mt. Dora, FL. Her husband preceded her in death in 1996. She is survived by one brother, Donald Fullerton, Green Cove Springs, FL.; two daughters: Toni Saldivar (Sam), Oxford, OH, and Christine Head, Deland, FL; four grandchildren: Samuel M. Saldivar, Los Angeles, CA, Matthew Saldivar, New York, NY, Hannah Meyers (Jaysn), Waukesha, WI, and Joshua Head, Deland, FL. She will be remembered as a talented artist, avid reader, gifted writer of poetry and prose, loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. A Memorial Service will be held in the Broadus-Raines Chapel at 501 Spring Street, Green Cove Springs, FL, on Saturday, July 30 at 10:00 AM. Inurnment will follow in the Penney Farms Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, her family asks that contributions be made to the Easter Seal Society, which helps stroke victims and their families. .
