John Kenneth Bradley, Sr., 88, of Orange Park, FL, passed away Friday, June 8, 2007. He was born on June 30, 1918 in Green Cove Springs, FL to parents, Horace and Lena Belle Bradley. Mr. Bradley graduated Robert E. Lee High School in 1936 and then attended the University of Florida, graduating in 1940 with a degree in Business Administration. He was a World War II Veteran, serving as a navigator in the United States Army Air Corps and continuing in the United States Air Force Reserves, retiring in 1978 as a Major. Mr. Bradley worked for the FBI in Washington, DC from 1941-1942 and became the 419th CPA in the State of Florida. He established Bradley and Triplett, CPA’s, John K. Bradley, CPA, Bradley Real Estate and Bradley Insurance Agency. Mr. Bradley served on the Green Cove Springs Planning and Zoning Board from 1971 to 1973; the City Commission 1974-1986, serving as Mayor in 1978 and 1981. Mr. Bradley developed several subdivisions, the last being Governor’s Harbor. He was the Chairman of Finance Committee for the First United Methodist Church of Green Cove Springs where he had been a member for 78 years. Mr. Bradley was a giving man and contributed to many charities. He enjoyed golf, Broadway Musicals, Big Band music, swimming, genealogy and world travel. He was a humble man who dearly loved his cherished family and will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Mr. Bradley was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Anita Knight Bradley. Survivors include his loving wife of 28 ½ years, Jane Jackson Bradley; children, John Kenneth Bradley, Jr. (Connie) and Kathy Bradley Green (Michael); step-son, David O. Wheat (Michelle); grandchildren, Chris Bradley, Kristin Robinson, Elizabeth Bradley, Jason Green, Olivia Bradley, Daniel Green, Kelly Green, Savannah Wheat and Kaylee Wheat and 8 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Wednesday, June 13, 2007 at Broadus-Raines Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, June 14, 2007 at Island View Baptist Church, Orange Park, with Dr. Scott Conner officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Hickory Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alzflorida.org .
