Dorothy Brooker Allen, Dottie, passed away on July 25, 2011 at 60 years of age. She was born March 16, 1951 to Annie and James Brooker in Green Cove Springs. She was a kind and caring mother, sister, grandmother and friend who will be missed. Dottie is survived by a loving and caring family including daughter, Michelle Leeanne Rautio-Sloan(husband Shawn Sloan) and grandchildren: Serena, Donnie, Chris and Ian; her son Michael Gavin Allen (wife Laura Marie Allen); former husband and life-long companion, Sidney Allen; as well as her sister Bette Green (husband Jim) niece Melissa Green-O’neil (great niece Keely Shae), niece Betsy Green, and nephew Jamie Green (great nephews Ben, Jacob and great niece Sophia) brother Al Brooker (wife Nelle), and Joann Brooker (niece Tara Beth). Graveside services will be held at Sharon Baptist Church Cemetery in Green Cove Springs at 10:00 AM on Thursday, July 28, 2011 with Reverend Joe Barrie officiating. Dorothy was a well traveled woman having visited Guam, Hawaii, Michigan, California, and Georgia; however if home is where the heart is her home has always been in Northeast Florida. She grew up in Green Cove Springs and has lived in Orange Park, and Jacksonville as well. She was a Girl Scout Brownie leader, an Avon Lady, PTA and room mother for a plethora of classes for both her children. One of her shining moments was working on Ronald Reagan’s campaign in 1980 and receiving an invitation to his Inauguration. She loved music ranging from Beatles, to ABBA, to Eiffel 65. Her favorite shows and movies included Star Trek, Harry Potter, True Blood, and General Hospital. Her last few years were spent surrounded by her grandchildren and filled with happiness. She was a bible believing Christian woman and was at peace when God called her home.
