Owen Evan Jones

Owen Evan Jones passed away August 24, 2011 in the Moosehaven Life Care Center at the age of 101. The oldest of three children, was born to John and Jane Jones on April 29, 1910 in Birkenhead, Wales. Owen married Julia Lee Blythe on May 13, 1937 in Oklahoma. They had a daughter Sherli. Owen worked as a tree surgeon for Davey Tree Expert Company for twenty years and then started a business of his own, working another thirty plus years retiring in 1987. Owen became affiliated with the Loyal Order of Moose on May 19, 1968 when he joined Arlington, Texas Lodge #1932. He received his Fellowship Degree on June 29, 1982 and was District President of eight other Lodges. He received his Life Membership on July 24, 2007. He came to Moosehaven on May 17, 2006. He loved walking and meeting people. You could see Owen walking around campus and he always had a smile on his face. Funeral Services will be held Monday, August 29, 2011 at 2:00 PM in the Moosehaven Chapel conducted by Reverend Helen Taylor and the Officers of Opportunity Lodge. Owen was predeceased by his wife, Julia, and his sister, Gladys Bouck. He is survived by his daughter Sherli Jones of Riverview, FL; granddaughter’s, Leigh LaRoe of Alvin, TX and Michele Barrett of Lakewood, CO; grandson, John T. LaRoe, Jr. of Riverview, FL; brother, Thomas (Helen) Jones of Verona, NY, great-grandchildren, Lyndsay, Evan and Sarah, great-great granddaughter, Skylar and many beloved nieces and nephews.
