Ronald Fredrick Brummitt, 77, of Middleburg, FL, passed away September 8, 2011. He was born on June 25, 1934 in Burnsville, NC to Fred and Mary Grace Brummitt. Mr. Brummitt was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He had resided in Clay County for over 40 years and had retired from teaching and coaching basketball at Cedar Key High School, Orange Park High School and Keystone High School. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Middleburg and was a member of the choir. He loved the University of NC Tarheels Basketball Team and loved fishing and boating. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Kitty Brummitt; sons, Marc (Lynne) Brummitt of Annapolis, MD and Matthew Brummitt of Middleburg; grandchildren, Taylor, Alyssa, Daryn and Raelyn; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The family will receive friends at Broadus-Raines Funeral Home Sunday afternoon, September 11, 2011 from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday afternoon, September 12, 2011 at First Baptist Church of Middleburg, 2645 Blanding Blvd. in Middleburg with Dr. C. Alan Floyd officiating. Interment will follow in Hickory Grove Cemetery in Green Cove Springs. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to your favorite charity.
