Jonathan Mitchell, 40, of Fleming Island, FL, passed away Monday, September 26, 2011. He was born on December 19, 1970 in Jacksonville, FL to parents, Phil Mitchell and Etta Overman Mitchell. Jonathan was raised in Coconut Creek, FL and attended Coconut Creek and American Heritage High School. He served his country in the United States Army and did two tours in Haiti and one tour in Korea. He received the Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon and the Expert Marksmanship Qualification Badge with Grenade and Rifle Bar. He had formerly worked as a construction superintendent with Elkins Constructers and Colorado Structures. Jonathan enjoyed skateboarding, motorcycles and was a member of the local YMCA. He was preceded in death by his mother, Etta Overman Mitchell and is survived by his father, Phil Mitchell (Joan); wife, Jennifer Mitchell; children, Micki, Kamryn, Lillian and Jonathan Mitchell; siblings, Betsy Mapes (Chris) and Tripp Griffin (Karen); mother and father-in-law, Joan Sabol Meyers and Edward Meyers and nieces and nephews, Philip and Evan Fontaine, Richard and Jacquelyn Warmbir and Blade Griffin. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm Saturday, October 1, 2011 in the Broadus-Raines Chapel with Dr. Tim McDaniel officiating. Viewing will be in the chapel from 2:00 pm until service time.
