Margit Doris Crouse (Mom), 80, of Jacksonville, beloved mother of six children, five daughters and sons in-law, 12 grandchildren, two great grandchildren and one very loyal cat, passed away November 18, 2011. Mom was caring and generous to everyone in her life, a simple yet exceptionally bright and high-spirited lady with an amazing life story. Born in the Czech Republic and raised in Germany, Mom survived daily bombings during World War II and later became a stage actress for the City Theater of Passau, where she performed to numerous sold-out houses before marrying Blake Crouse (who passed away in 1996) and moving to the U.S. Her parents were Walther and Zdenka Schubert, two figures who stood strong in WWII Germany by refusing to join the Nazi party. Years after grandpa Walther had passed away, grandma Zdenka followed Mom to Florida, where they remained very close until grandma passed away. Mom will be remembered as a beautiful and wonderful mother, lovingly devoted to the family she created, and memories of her will be forever cherished by the lives lucky enough to have been touched by her. Mom is survived by sons, Robert and his wife Cathi, Richard and his wife Terri, Michael and his wife Mary; daughters, Carol, Linda and her husband Robert Wingate, Debbie and her husband Brian Grogg; grandchildren, Sarah, Robby, Mandy, Sarah Ann, Alex, Jessi, Chris, Brett, Brooke, Tyler, Justin and Connor; great-grandchildren, Lil Chris and Nevaeh; and her beloved and fiercely protective cat, Heidi. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL where she will be laid to rest next to her late husband. Please sign the online guestbook. Arrangements under the care of Broadus-Raines Funeral Home, 501 Spring St, Green Cove Springs, FL 32043, (904) 284-4000.
