Walter Edward “Ed” Moody, 80, of Green Cove Springs, FL passed away following a lengthy illness on Wednesday, August 22, 2007. He was born on January 9, 1927 to parents Walter and Louise Moody in Bartow, FL and was of the Baptist faith. Ed honorably served his nation in The United States Navy and was a lifelong resident of the Green Cove Springs community, having moved away only once for about ten years to the Spartanburg and Roebuck areas of South Carolina. He worked in the construction industry as a crane operator and enjoyed fishing and “shooting pool” in his free time. Ed was one of the first members of Veteran’s of Foreign Wars Post #1988 in Green Cove Springs and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Louise; brother, Hannis Alvin Moody; one sister, Ruth Vera Moody; and one grandson, Kevin Scott. He is survived by his wife of forty two years, Marguerite T. Moody; four children: Denise Moody Brown of Green Cove Springs, Charlotte Lee Scott (Bill) of Jacksonville Beach, James Torrible (Linda) of Panama City, FL, and Scott Torrible of St. Augustine; one sister, Thelma Moody Miller of Casselberry, FL; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews and cousins. Memorial services with military honors will be held in the chapel of Broadus-Raines Funeral Home on Sunday, September 2, 2007 at 2:30 pm, officiated by Reverend Joe Barrie.
