Michael Jennings Murrhee Sr. or “Piggy” as known and loved by many, 61, passed away in his home on Sunday, April 1, 2012. He was a lifelong resident of Belmore, Florida. He is a descendant of a long line of Clay County residents.
He graduated from Keystone Heights High School in 1969. During his high school career, Mike spent many years participating in track and field, but most importantly football. On the weekends, Mike could be found on the lake or in the woods with his friends and family. He served as the only acting President of Cripple Creek Hunting club where four to five generations learned the art of telling tall tales and fellowshipping with a little bit of hunting.
He is predeceased by his mother, Georgia L. Murrhee, and his nephew, William Scott Wilkes.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his father, former Clay County Sherriff (Otto) Jennings Murrhee Jr.; his sister Delores M. Wilkes and brother-in-law Honorable William A. Wilkes; daughter, Dana L. Brock and her husband Greg; daughter, Nikki Murrhee Jolley and her husband Traé; and son Michael Jennings Murrhee Jr; two grandchildren, Tyler Jennings Brock and Jacé Barrett Jolley, and many cherished nieces, nephews and friends.
A visitation will be held at Broadus-Raines Funeral Home on Thursday, April 5, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. with interment immediately following at Hickory Grove Cemetery, Green Cove Springs.
