James Victor Hall

November 17, 1945 — April 28, 2012

James Victor Hall, age 66, of Orange Park, was delivered to His Heavenly Father on April 28, 2012. Jim was a well-known local guitarist, and played many venues in the 60’s-90’s. He suffered from a stroke and lost his ability to play like he wanted, but his friends and family continued to encourage him. We rejoice that he is now with some of his musician friends who went before him and is playing along with them once again. Jim was a graduate of Landon High School, Class of 1964. He retired from the Duval County School Board in 2001, but not before meeting the love of his life. Jim was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Jeanette Hall and his brothers, Frankie and Ken. He leaves to grieve his wife, Jean, who worshipped the ground he walked on. He will also be sorely missed by family, brother John Carl Hall (Dee), aunt Elise (Phil) Smith and many loyal cousins, nieces, and a nephew. Jim never had any biological children but considered his stepchildren his own. They include Richard Payne (Tanesha), and Kimberly Vu (Hung), who honored him as their second father. His adoring granddaughters are Marlee Payne, Kelsey Vu, and Kendall Vu. Les Wing was his best friend that stood by him and played many ‘gigs’ with Jim through the years. Jim considered Les and his wife Suzanne, their daughter Laurel, as well as her son, Nathan, as his extended and faithful family. There were also many friends he made from Musicians (AFM 444) where he only missed jam sessions if he was sick. As he worked to relearn the guitar, he made a true friend with Todd Hansen who tried to help Jim play his favorite song, Misty. We are only comforted by the fact that he is in Heaven now and can play it better than ever. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 4, 2012 in the Broadus-Raines Chapel with Reverend Ken Mitchell officiating. The family will receive friends beginning an hour prior to service time. Private burial will be at Jacksonville Memory Gardens. The family wishes to thank friends and musicians who loved Jim until the end. His care was faithfully supported by Shands-Gainesville, Dr. Jonathan Constantin, and Dr. Gerald Giurato. If you wish to donate to a charity in his memory please contribute to Community Hospice. Arrangements under the care of Broadus-Raines Funeral Home, 501 Spring St. Green Cove Springs, FL 32043, (904)284-4000.
