Florence Elizabeth Jude Owens

Florence Elizabeth Jude Owens, 95, of Green Cove Springs, FL passed away on Sunday, May 6, 2012. She was born on July 31, 1916 in Pikeville, KY to parents Thomas and Mintie (Robbinette) Jude. Mrs. Owens moved to the local area in October, 1969 from Matewan, WV. She was of the Baptist faith and was a loyal member of Little Ruth Old Regular Baptist Church. In her spare time she enjoyed gardening, singing, writing poems and watching old westerns. Florence was a real people person, she never met a stranger. She will always be remembered as a loving wife, the best mama in the whole wide world, grandmother and great grandmother. She will be dearly missed by those who knew her. She is preceded in death by both of her parents; her first husband, Alex Maynard in 1958; her second husband, Clarence Owens in 2004; son, Cletus Alex Maynard in 1962; daughters, Mary Alice Reed and Naomi Jean Harris. Florence is survived by her daughters, Gerelene Skeens (John), Connie Hammond, Gloria Kennedy (Perry), Bonnie Kevern (Richard) and Glenna Wilson (George); step-daughter, Barbara Spencer (Samuel); step-son, Harold Owens (Arlene) and Johnny Owens; 22 grandchildren and 48 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Tuesday, May 8, 2012 in the Broadus-Raines Chapel. A funeral service will be held 10:00 am, Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at Little Ruth Old Regular Baptist Church with Elder Richard Lowe, Elder Doug McCarty and Elder Terry Fuller officiating.
