Loretta Davis, 72, of Orange Park, FL passed away on Saturday, May 26, 2012. She was born on October 28, 1939 in Kingston, Jamaica to parents Christiana Jackson and Clarence Davis. Ms. Davis moved to New York in 1989 from Spanish Town, Jamaica and from New York to Orange Park, FL in 2003. She was member of the Pentecostal church for many years before becoming a member of First Baptist Church of Orange Park in 2006. While living in New York, Loretta earned an Associate Degree in Evangelism and fulfilled her true passion of ministering to the physical and spiritual needs of those she came in contact with. In her spare time she loved to cook, entertain and crochet. She will be remembered as a devoted mother, loving sister, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother, cousin and loyal friend. Loretta is preceded in death by both of her parents; son, Orett Williams (1984) and daughter, Violet Davis Bell (2010). She is survived by her daughters, Verona McFarlane, Selena Davis Hayle (Patrick) and Sandra Morris Thomas (Antwan); brothers, Vincent Jones (Henrietta), David Duhaney and Samuel Marshall; sister, Delores Donaldson; nieces, Barbara Howell and Melissa Marshall; nephews, John and Mark Jones, Sammy Marshall, Phillip, Dale and Michael Donaldson; cousins, Loretta “Pinky” Richards, Linda Van Horn, George Chung (Regina) and many others; 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held 11:00 am, Saturday, June 16, 2012 at First Baptist Church of Orange Park, 1140 Kingsley Ave., Orange Park, FL 32073 with Reverend David Tarkington officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the church. Interment will immediately follow at Penney Farms Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in her memory to the Association of Gospel Rescue Missions at www.agrm.org for the Open Arms Drop-In Center in Kingston, Jamaica.
