Lonnie Woodrow DeGolyer, 96, of Middleburg, FL went to be with his Lord, Tuesday, June 5, 2012. He was born on May 27, 1916 in Jesup, GA to parents George Vernon and Essie Minnie Cercy DeGolyer. Mr. DeGolyer moved to the local area with his family when he was 16 years old and has lived here for the past 80 years. Lonnie was a faithful and loyal member of Russell Baptist Church in Green Cove Springs, FL. He loved spending time with his loving wife Essie, who was truly the love of his life. She passed away in 2000. Lonnie was a carpenter and painter, he enjoyed fishing and traveling to gospel sings. His family will always remember him as a simple, but humble family man. He will be dearly missed by those who knew him. He is preceded in death by his loving wife Essie DeGolyer his son, Woodrow M. DeGolyer and his granddaughter, Terry Aspden. Mr. DeGolyer is survived by his daughter, Stella M. Milligan; son, Jimmie E. DeGolyer; sister, Videll Holley of Lakeland, FL; daughter-in-law, Irene DeGolyer; 13 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren. A Memorial service will be held at Russell Baptist Church at 3:00 pm on Monday, June 11, 2012 with Reverend Ron Baker officiating. Inurnment will follow in Peoria Cemetery at a later date.
