Eldon Hancock, 67, of Jacksonville, FL, passed away Wednesday, October 17, 2007. He was born on August 4, 1940 in Ocala, FL to parents, Thomas and Lonnie Hancock. Mr. Hancock had worked for Chad Supply for 22 years as the manager of sales for apartment maintenance supplies. He had served his country in the United States Navy and was an accomplished drummer. Mr. Hancock was very active in his community and was a member of the Hyde Park Masonic Lodge #370; The York Rite of Freemasonry; Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, 32°; Putnam County Shrine Club and the Morocco Shriners of Jacksonville where he was in the Drum & Bugle Corps. Mr. Hancock will be deeply missed by his loving family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Margaret J. Hancock; son, Thomas Eldon Hancock, Jr. of Jacksonville, FL; daughter, Sherry Ann Melia Rose (George Brian) of Jacksonville, FL; sister, Lauren Hancock Owen and grandchildren, George Eric Rose and Thomas Ronnie Rose. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Monday, October 22, 2007 at Broadus-Raines Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, October 23, 2007 in the Broadus-Raines Chapel with Reverend Keith Russell of Westside Baptist Church officiating. Entombment with Military Honors and Masonic Rites will follow at Riverside Memorial Park, Jacksonville, FL. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in his name may be made to the American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org).
