Reverend Paul Leighty Austin, 89, of Penney Farms, FL, passed away Sunday, October 21, 2007. He was born on June 14, 1918 in Myondale, PA to parents, Clyde and Mary Austin. Rev. Austin was a Methodist Minister and Teacher, retiring from the Haverford School for Boys in Haverford, PA. He was an American History scholar and he and his wife enjoyed traveling the British Isles, Europe and had been to all 50 of the United States. He and his wife enjoyed vacationing at Moosehead Lake in Greenville, Maine and also lecturing on their academic interests and their travels with Elder Hostels. Rev. Austin was a veracious reader and enjoyed photography. He and his wife moved to Penney Retirement Community in 1993 and he will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Rev. Austin was preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Margaret (Keim) Austin on May 16, 2005. He was also preceded in death by his parents and his brother, John (Helen) Austin. Survivors include his daughter, Dr. Susan R. Austin of West Chester, PA and nephews, John Austin (Gail) of Altoona, PA and James Austin (Donna) of Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, October 24, 2007 at Penney Memorial Church with Reverend Lee Van Sickle and Reverend Dick Dodds officiating. Following cremation, he and his wife’s ashes will be interred at Cumberland Cemetery in Lima, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name may be made to the Library Fund at Penney Retirement Community, P.O. Box 555, Penney Farms, FL 32079.
