Joan Melton Vining, 68, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 7, 2012 surrounded by her loving family at her home in Jacksonville, FL. She was born on April 1, 1944 in Jacksonville, FL to parents Hildred and Margaret Johnson Kirkpatrick. Mrs. Vining was a member of Garden View Baptist Church and loved going to church. Joan was an avid Jaguars fan it did not matter to her if they were winning or losing she still enjoyed watching them. She was the owner and operator of Halls Treasure Chest in Green Cove Springs. Joan enjoyed yard sales, laughing and talking on the phone. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and dear friend to all who knew her. Joan was preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her husband, Dan G. Vining; daughters, Tonya Hall and her husband Reverend Tim Hall and Missy Melton; brother, Bill Carroll; sisters, Brenda Hurst, Cheryl Simmons, Elizabeth Stocks and Sally Schroder; grandchildren, Landon and Grant Hall, Amanda Ingram (Justin); several step-children and step-grandchildren. Funeral services for Mrs. Vining will be held at Russell Baptist Church on Thursday, September 13, 2012 at 10:00 am with Reverend Tim Hall officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday, September 12, 2012 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the Broadus-Raines Chapel. Interment will follow in Decoy Cemetery.
