Stanley Gene Dubicki, 90, of Orange Park, FL passed away July 29, 2012 in the Moosehaven Life Care Center. He was born to Alexander and Stella Dubicki on December 17, 1921 in South Bend, Indiana. He went to Shurtleff College. While in college, he enlisted in the Marine Corp on August 4th, 1942. Stanley was discharged as a Corporal on July 9th, 1946. He joined the V-12 program and that allowed him to go back to college. He attended Indiana University, and then transferred to Purdue University, graduating in 1949. Stanley was an outstanding half back football player in high school and at Purdue. He was the smallest player in the Big 10 Conference, weighing only 152 pounds. Stanley was very proud of his college football career and would let you know he never lost a football game in his life. He was called up to play pro football by George Halas of the Chicago Bears but he had to turn them down because he was still in the Marines. After graduating from Purdue, Stanley was discharged from the Marine Corp and went to work for a family-owned furniture and appliance store in South Bend. He met Esther Urbanski in 1948 and married her on July 1, 1950. Stanley became affiliated with the Loyal Order of Moose on August 26, 1958 when he joined South Bend, Indiana Lodge #58. He then transferred to Elkhart, Indiana Lodge # 599. He earned his Fellowship Degree on June 18, 1968, Past Governor on May 1, 1972 and 25 Club on May 9, 1972. He sponsored 91 members in his lifetime. Stanley came to Moosehaven with his wife, Esther on August 3, 1999 where he resided for 13 years. Esther preceded him in death on July 23, 2009. He is survived by his daughter Cynthia Kalwitz of Laguna Niguel, California. A Private Memorial Service was held on Friday, September 14, 2012 with interment in the Moosehaven Mausoleum.
