Mariano "Sonny" Scopoli, Jr., 66, of Jacksonville, Florida passed away Thursday, September 13, 2012. Sonny was born April 8, 1946 in Atwater, Minnesota to Mariano Scopoli, Sr. and Arlett Christenson Scopoli.
Sonny was a well known and popular graduate of Robert E. Lee High School, spending younger days playing in Willow Branch Park. As a teen, in the mid-1960's, he enjoyed the companionship and the gathering of classmates after school at (then famous) Pennyburger Drive-In, in Avondale. He loved raising Boston Terriers and entertaining, especially cooking, for friends. He was always willing to help anyone who needed anything and never met a stranger.
Sonny was preceded in death by his parents, his two sisters Ann Marie and Marilyn, and a brother Anthony. He is survived by his only child, Shelley Marilyn Scopoli (Brian McLaughlin) of Tallahassee and her mother, Hope Scopoli of Middleburg. Shelley was his pride and joy. He also leaves behind many friends who he considered family.
