Roy “Jack” Dorsett, Jr., 82, of Orange Park, FL passed away Monday, November 26, 2007. Mr. Dorsett was born to parents, Roy and Christia Dorsett on September 20, 1925 in Branford, FL. He lived in St. Augustine for twenty nine years and moved to the Orange Park area eight years ago. Of the Baptist faith, he served as a Deacon for Ancient City Baptist Church in St. Augustine, FL for twenty years and attended First Baptist Church of Orange Park after moving to the area. Mr. Dorsett was a decorated veteran, having honorably served his nation in three different wars with The United States Marine Corp for twenty seven years, four of which were served overseas. He was also president of the St. Augustine Volunteer Fire Department for twenty years and a Boy Scout Master for twenty five years. He enjoyed traveling, reading, and wood carving, but above all, he loved his family and helping people. Mr. Dorsett is survived by his beloved wife of sixty one years, Verlie Dorsett; three children: Roy James Dorsett, III (Gail) of St. Mary’s, GA, Randall Scott Dorsett (Susan) of Orange Park, FL, and Rachel Diane Dorsett Sanders (Joseph) of Fleming Island, FL; three sisters: Janet Blackwell, Francis Nelms, and Alice Rogers; eight grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Friday, November 30, 2007 from 10:00 until 11:00 am at First Baptist Church of Orange Park. Funeral services will commence at 11:00 am with Pastor David Tarkington and Brother Bill Carter officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Santa Fe Cemetery, Branford, FL.
