Bette Brooker Green

Bette Brooker Green, lifelong resident of Clay County, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday October 4, 2012 after an extended illness. Born on August 11, 1944 in Green Cove Springs, FL to Annie Daniels and James Alton Brooker. She is preceded in death by her brother Jay Edwin Brooker, sister Dorothy Allen and lifelong dear friend Linda Murray Petrie. She is survived by her loving husband of 47 years James C. Green Jr.; brother, Al Brooker (Nellie); sister, Jo Anne Brooker; daughters, Melissa Green O’Neill (Chuck) and Betsie Green; son, James Green III; grandchildren, Keely Shea O’Neill & Benjamin, Sophia and Jacob Green. She is also survived by niece, Michelle Rautio (Shawn); nephew, Micheal Allen (Laura); niece, Tara Beth Brooker, numerous cousins and the many children who she opened her home and heart to throughout her life. Her determined spirit was the guiding force for her entire family and her greatest pleasure in life was her grandchildren. She was a Realtor in Clay County for many years and always enjoyed helping families find a place to call home. She was recognized for her volunteerism by the Clay County Council of the Blind and many other organizations. Her charitable spirit and tireless giving was evident to anyone who met her. Bette Green was known and loved by many in the Green Cove Springs community. She was the unifying force of her entire family and a strong believer in family traditions. She loved being surrounded by friends and family especially on holidays. She was a woman of strong character who never feared to speak her mind and offered guidance and love to many troubled souls. Those who knew her were forever touched by her giving, caring nature. She will be dearly missed in this world but her memory and spirit will live on. Friends and family will be gathering for graveside services at Sharon Baptist Church Cemetery 5884 Sharon Road Green Cove Springs, FL at 11am on Monday October 8, 2012. Reverend Russell Franklin will officiate. There will be a reception at the family home immediately following. Arrangements under the care of Broadus-Raines Funeral Home in Green Cove Springs, FL.
