Cecil George Cook, Jr., 86, of Jacksonville, FL went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 6, 2012. He was born October 29, 1926 in Bradenton, FL. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during WWII. Cecil retired from the City of Jacksonville in 1975. He was previously employed with Vak Pak, Inc. of Jacksonville, FL. At the age of 57 while holding two jobs, he graduated from Jones Business College with honors, completing a two year computer programing course in one year. Cecil loved the water; he loved fishing and boating. He was very good with his hands, and there wasn't anything he did not learn to do, and do well, once he put his mind to it. He had a wonderful sense of humor and always told jokes wherever he went. He loved his family, his country, and, at the end, looked forward to being with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, in Paradise.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Jeanette Cook; brother, Alec Cook; sister, Gloria Collins and son, Ralph Taylor. Cecil is survived by his wife of 56 years Jimmie; brother Lawrence Cook; daughter, Carol (Steve) Miller; son, Roger (Terri) Taylor, Sr.; grandchildren, Kevin McGuire, Jimmie Nitka, Roger A. Taylor, Jr., Robert G. Taylor and 10 great-grandchildren. Cecil accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior with the help of George Ross. Memorial contributions may be made to Haven Hospice, 745 Blanding Boulevard, Orange Park, FL 32065. Graveside service will be held at Jacksonville National Cemetery on Friday, November 16, 2012 at 10:30 am with Charles Suttles leading the service.
