Allie T. “Al” Ivey, 91, lifetime resident of Clay County, FL passed away November 14, 2012 in Green Cove Springs. He was born in Doctors Inlet, FL on October 24, 1921 to parents Allie Thomas Ivey Sr. and Grace High Ivey. He was a veteran of WWII where he proudly served in the United States Army. Al had been a member of the volunteer fire department in Green Cove Springs for over 30 years, a member of the City Commission for over 20 years and had served as the Mayor of Green Cove Springs for 4 years. He owned and operated Ivey’s Service Station which was located at the corner of N. Palmetto and Walnut Streets for 38 years. He had also been an auxiliary deputy for the Clay County Sheriff’s Department and was an avid gun collector. Al was predeceased by his wife, Mary Rivers Ivey, in 2004. He is survived by his daughters, Cynthia Ivey Brown (Robert) of St. Augustine, and Carmen Chappell (David) of Ponte Vedra Beach; brother, David L. Ivey of Green Cove Springs; grandchildren, Courtney A. Brown, Tayler A. Brown, Logan Curole, Zachary Chappell, Channing Chappell and Regan Chappell. The family will receive friends Sunday, November 18, 2012 between 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. at Broadus-Raines Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 19, 2012 at Hickory Grove Baptist Church, 310 S. Oakridge Ave, Green Cove Springs, FL 32043 with Pastor Russell Franklin officiating.
