Winson L. Knutsen, 89, of Green Cove Springs, FL passed away Tuesday, January 22, 2008. Winson was born to Gunder and Minnie Elvira Knutsen on August 15, 1918 in Alachua County, FL and was of the Baptist faith. He honorably served his nation in The United States Army and was a World War II veteran. Later, he worked in Civil Service and retired after thirty three years. He served as secretary for eighteen years for Clay County Council for the Blind and was on the Awards Committee for the Florida Council for the Blind. He was also a member of, and past treasurer for The Clay County Historical Society and he enjoyed watching football and golf. Winson was preceded in death by his parents and by one son, Winson L. Knutsen, Jr. He is survived by his beloved wife of fifty seven years, Donnagene Knutsen; one son, Floyd Knutsen; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family will receive friends in the Broadus-Raines Chapel on Friday, January 25, 2008 from 10:00 until 11:00 am and funeral services will begin at 11:00 am officiated by Reverend Mike Madaris and Reverend Garrett Hays. Interment will follow in Hickory Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hickory Grove Building Fund (904) 284-3311.
