Herb Johnson

Herbert B. Johnson, 81, passed away Saturday, January 26, 2008. Herb was born in LaMar County, AL on September 8, 1926 to Terry and Nancy Johnson. He was a Tool and Die Maker for Aquamatic’s in Rockford, IL and Hilton Industries in Sarasota, FL before retiring in 1991. Herb became affiliated with the Loyal Order of Moose in 1972, when he joined Bradenton, FL Lodge 1223. He served as Prelate, Trustee, and Jr. Governor. He was also a member of Thunderbolt Moose Legion #201 where he served as District President. Herb came to Moosehaven on July 21, 1998 where he lived for 9 1/2 years. After moving to Moosehaven, he met Doris Asby and they were married on May 28, 2002. He is survived by his wife, Doris Asby Johnson; one son, Bill Johnson, one daughter, Peggy Wood (Bill); two brothers, Archie and Carlin Johnson, three sisters, Lela Turman, Marie Vaughn and Bernice Babb; one grandson, and two great grandsons. Memorial services were held on Wednesday, February 6, 2008 at 10:00 AM in the Moosehaven Chapel, conducted by Rev. Helen Taylor and Officers of Opportunity Lodge. Interment will follow in the Moosehaven Mausoleum. Cremation Arrangements are under the care of Broadus-Raines Funeral Home, 501 Spring Street, Green Cove Springs, FL (904) 284-4000.
