Linda Caldwell Guswiler

September 19, 1940 — February 3, 2013

Linda C. Guswiler died peacefully at her home where she was lovingly cared for by Community Hospice February 3, 2013. She was born September 19, 1940 in Gaffney, SC., and she was a graduate of Winthrop University. Linda received her Master’s degree in counseling from Western Carolina University. She taught in the Clay County School district before going to St. John’s Country Day School where she finished her teaching for a total of 34 years. She was recognized for her coaching abilities numerous times at St. John’s and she was named volleyball coach of the year by the state of Florida High School Association. After her retirement the Women’s Athletic Award was named for her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Guswiler; her sister, Judi Robbs who passed away in 2009 and she is survived by her sister, Ann Ellison, of Gaffney, SC; two children, Gerald “Jay” Guswiler (Leah) and Beth G. Johnson (Ron); her grandchildren, Cody Guswiler, Caroline Guswiler, Jennifer Johnson, Emily Johnson and Jackie Farmer of Hattiesburg, MS. The family will receive friends Tuesday, February 5, 2013, at the Broadus-Raines Funeral Home from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at First Baptist Church of Middleburg at 11 a.m., Wednesday, February 5, 2013. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Middleburg’s Children’s Program. Please sign the family’s online guestbook at www.broadusraines.com.
