Glen Ovle Shultz (1926 – 2013)
The “best flight engineer” has retired. Master Sargent Glen O. Shultz died Sunday, February 17th 2013, at Cypress Village Senior Living, with his wife of 68 years (Marilouise) and loving family by his side.
Sgt. Shultz was a WWII Veteran, and in 1986 retired from the Florida Air National Guard after 32 years of service as a Flight Engineer. He loved flying, and all the men he worked with at the Florida Air National Guard. His motto was “find a job you are passionate about, and you will never work another day in your life”.
He was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal and the Florida Cross among 19 other Medals and awards.
Born in St. Joseph, MO, he was the son of the late Milton Jackson Shultz, Sr. and Marguerite “Brown” Shultz. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Milton Jackson Shultz, Jr. of Hollywood. FL.
Sgt.Shultz was a member of Murray Hill Baptist church where he enjoyed singing in the choir for several years, as well as working in other various programs within the church.
Glen O. Shultz will not only be remembered as a loving Father, husband and friend, but a remarkable humble man who loved people. He was compassionate and loving to everyone he met, especially the elderly. After retirement he and Marilouise volunteered countless hours working with the Alzheimer patients at Wyndham Lakes Retirement Village. Glen enjoyed driving the patients around Jacksonville and his wife prepared indoor activities for the residents. Both genuinely loved all the residents, wherever Glen was he made everyone feel extremely special.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 68 years, Marilouise Wilson Shultz of Jacksonville, FL.; two daughters, Nancy Shultz Kevern, of Panama City, FL, Janet Shultz Flye, and husband, William M. Flye of Houston, TX; grandchildren, Richard Lee Kevern, Jr. , and wife, Pamela Nicole Kevern, of Jacksonville, FL, Priscilla Lea Kevern, of Panama City, FL, Joseph Mark Wells, Jr., and wife, Bonnie Lee Wells, of Denver, CO, Jason Chapman Wells, of Houston, TX, Kelly Wells Ford, and husband, James Frank Ford of Greenville, SC, Megan Wells Ayers, and husband, Blake Ashton Ayers of Greenville, SC; great-grandchildren, Noah Taylor Kevern, Alysa Lea Chismar, Nathan James Kevern, Naphtali Megan Ford and James Bauer Ford.
A “Memorial to Celebrate the Life” of Glen O. Shultz will be scheduled for Saturday, March 9, 2013, at 11:00am, Murray Hill Baptist Church, 4300 Post St., Jacksonville, FL. The Family extends an invitation to all Friends, Colleagues, and Family to come and celebrate the love we have for our Husband, and Father. Lunch will be served following the Memorial Service.
