Mildred Mae Johannides

Mildred Mae Johannides, 93, of Penney Farms, FL, passed away March 8, 2013. She was born on May 13, 1919 in Rochester, PA to Paul and Stella (Graham) Shanor. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband of 58 years, Rev. Francis C. Johannides; daughter, Vicki Birdsall; granddaughter, Erika Anderson; two brothers and a sister. She is survived by her son, David (Ruth) Johannides; daughter, Carol Keller; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Mrs. Johannides was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who devoted her life to her husband’s ministry in the United Methodist and Christian Missionary Alliance churches. She loved teaching lab schools and was an education director of the West Michigan Conference of the UMC. Her special gift was hospitality and she and Rev. Johannides opened their home to everyone. Becoming a part of the Penney Retirement Community, she volunteered at Beyer House and Penmore Place residences and was instrumental in raising funds for the Commons Building on campus. The final three years of her life were spent as a resident of Hagan Care.
