James “Jim” Grandy passed away March 31, 2013 in the Moosehaven Life Care Center at the age of 78.
He was born to Thomas and Gladys Grandy on December 22, 1934 in Hocking, Ohio.
Jim married Marjorie Lois Frain. She preceded him in death on September 23, 1994. He married Betty Ann Lares on August 4, 1997. She preceded him in death on January 30, 2011. He has two sons, John and Thomas, a daughter Tamare.
He served in the Army between March 1953 and October 1957. He was Honorably Discharged.
Jim was a English Professor at Lees College, Jackson, Kentucky. He enjoyed playing golf.
He became affiliated with the Loyal Order of Moose on August 9, 1986 when he joined the Bucyrus Moose Lodge #669, only to be eligible to play in the OSMA Golf Tourney. Later transferring to Mount Vernon Moose Lodge #824. Jim was a member of the Rainbow Moose Legion #35. In 1997 he transferred to Galion Moose Lodge #303. He earned his Fellowship Degree on July 1, 1996 and Pilgrim Degree on May 26, 2001. Jim became the editor of the OSMA Newsletter and became Chairman of the International Publication Committee. He was nominated four consecutive years as Moose International Shining Star Editor of the Year.
Jim came to Moosehaven on July 26, 2011 where he resided for 1 year and 7 months.
Memorial Service held Friday, April 19, 2013 at 2:00 PM in the Moosehaven Chapel with burial in Mt. Vernon, Ohio. Services conducted by Rev. Helen Taylor and Officers of Opportunity Lodge.
He is survived by his two sons, Thomas Grandy of Ashland, Ohio, John Grandy of Mansfield, Ohio and daughter Tamara Shope of Tiro, Ohio.
