Patricia "Pat" A. Spencer

Patricia A. Spencer, “Pat”, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away on Sunday, April 7, 2013 at the St Vincent’s Medical Center’s Northeast Florida Community Hospice Center. Her husband and daughter were by her side. Pat was born in Tallahassee, Florida in April 1938 to Arlow and Ruth Godwin. The family moved to Pensacola, Florida when she was in her early teens. It was here in her later years that she met her future husband, Captain Thomas J. Spencer, USN (Retired), then a Naval Aviation Flight Training Student. They were married in 1958 and began a successful career in the Navy that lasted over 26 years. Pat loved the Navy, especially squadron life. She made many lasting friendships over those years that continued to the present day. She loved the challenges of moving to new duty stations, seeing new places that ranged from Key West, Florida to North Kingstown, Rhode Island and places in between. She especially loved the two year tour in Naples, Italy. Pat raised four great kids. Michael (Mike) Spencer and his family reside in Jacksonville. William (Bill) Spencer and his family reside in Woodstock, Ga. Kim Marie Spencer-Little and her family reside in Macclenny, Fl., and Patrick (Pat) Spencer and his family resides in Acworth, Ga. In addition, Pat (Amma) has eight grandchildren and five great grand-children all of which she adored. She will be greatly missed by all. Pat will be interned at the Jacksonville National Cemetery at 2:00 pm Wednesday, April 17, 2013.
