Ronald D. Helmey

Ronald D. Helmey, 76, of Green Cove Springs, FL, passed away May 8, 2013. He was born on May 3, 1937 in Jacksonville, FL to parents Clyde and Iola Scott Helmey. Mr. Helmey served his country in the United States Air Force and began work as a Postman for the United States Post Office in 1959, delivering mail in Green Cove Springs until his retirement in 2012. He was a member and Deacon at OakLeaf Baptist Church. Mr. Helmey was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his wife, Betty Helmey; children, Sherrie Ball (Robert) and Sandra Blocker (Allen); brothers, Lewis Miller, Jr., Clinton Miller and Ewart “Beau” Miller and grandchildren, Meagan and Nathan Ball and Austin and Katie Blocker. The family will receive friends from 3:00 pm until 5:00 pm Sunday, May 12, 2013 at Broadus-Raines Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Monday, May 13, 2013 at OakLeaf Baptist Church, 800 OakLeaf Plantation Pkwy., Orange Park, FL 32065 with Rev. Robert Ball officiating.
