Velma Mae Amerson

Velma Mae Amerson, 62, of Palatka, FL passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 12, 2013. She was born on January 28, 1951 in Savannah, GA to parents, Worthern Thomas and Mable Boyles Amerson. She had been a resident of Florida for the past 30 years. Mrs. Amerson was of the Baptist faith and a member of Russell Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening and growing flowers and loved to play Bingo. Mrs. Amerson loved taking care of her family and will be deeply missed by all who loved her. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son, Jerry Woodcock, Jr., sister, Mildred Collingwood and her brothers, Charles Amerson and Worthern Thomas Amerson. Survivors include her daughters, Cheryl Kerklin, Donna Jones and Kelly Johnson and her husband Dustin; brother, James Amerson and his wife Diane of Bloomingdale, GA; 6 grandchildren, Ronnie and Johnnie Jones, Tracy Jones, Amanda Williams, Diana Jones, Abigail Kerklin and Makaila Johnson; 3 great-grandchildren, Adam, Jonathan and Annalee and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, May 15, 2013 in the Broadus-Raines Chapel with Rev. Robert Mullaly. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
