Curtis Jackson Jones

Curtis Jones, 86, of Green Cove Springs, FL passed away Tuesday, April 8, 2008. Mr. Jones was born to parents Willie and Annie Jones on November 29, 1921 in Quincy, FL and had been a lifelong resident of the Green Cove Springs community. He was a member and past Deacon of Russell Baptist Church and was an avid fisherman. Mr. Jones honorably served his nation during World War II in The United States Navy and later became a Chief fireman for Naval Air Station Jacksonville. He was a member and Past Exalted Ruler of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Lodge #1892 and a member of The Cabul Masonic Lodge #116. Mr. Jones was preceded in death by two wives, Etheleen Jones and Duffell Jones; and by two sons, Gene and Keith Jones. He is survived by six children: Darrell L. Bishop (Rose), Kelly Gray (Rod), Loretta Jones, Dee Pline, Evelyn Norris, and Cindy Ecker (Randy); one brother, Jerry Jones; one sister, Eunice Adams; 10 grandchildren: Becky, Lee, Jason, Lacy, Josh, Davis, Victoria, Lisa, Lenny, and Eric; and three great-grandchildren: Sophie, Rebecca, and Cassidy. The family will receive friends at Russell Baptist Church on Friday, April 11, 2008 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at Russell Baptist Church on Saturday, April 12, 2008 at 10:00 am officiated by Reverend Tim Hall.
