William "Woody" R. Wood

William “Woody” Rufus Wood, 93, of Green Cove Springs, FL, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 16, 2013. He was born on December 21, 1919 in Dowling Park, FL to parents John and Elizabeth Stewart Wood. Mr. Wood was a resident of Green Cove Springs for the past 32 years. He served his country honorably in the United States Air Force and was a WWII veteran. Woody loved being outdoors; he enjoyed fishing, gardening and building just about anything. He worked for Lee Holmen Distributors for 25 years and for Duval Beverage for 15 years. Woody was one of those people who had a charming personality and, after meeting him, you couldn’t help but to love him. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son William R. Wood, Jr. and daughter Carol Hamm. Survivors include his wife of 32 years Joyce Wood; children, Larry (Mary) Wood, Debbie Wood (Cindy Wolfe), Mark (Suzan) Wood, Jerome Rewis, April (Jack) Miller and Thomas (Lyana) Bolas; 13 grandchildren, Christa, Brad, Penny, Cindy, Brittney, Justin, Dustin, Kyle, Robert, Kalel, Michael, Jimmy and Jerry and 8 great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 am Saturday, July 20, 2013 at Hickory Grove Cemetery with Reverend Paul Salazar officiating.
